Will there be print magazines in our kids' future? Maybe not if
the fate of Zillions, the Consumer Reports for
kids, is any indication.

Subscribers to the magazine aimed at readers 8 and up received a
notice recently saying that the July/August 2000 issue would be
its last, though it would re-emerge in September as an online
entity. 'Lack of circulation growth plus a continuing increase in
children's affinity for the Internet led to the decision to offer
Zillions in digital format instead of print,' said the ltetter
signed by Peter S. Chidsey, vice president.

Like its parent magazine, Zillions featured product tests
and did not accept advertising. Beginning Sept. 1,
www.zillions.org will be part of the free section of Consumer
Reports Online, which requires a subscription fee for full site
access.
