Agfa Graphics announced additions to its Arkitex workflow management software suite.

The new version of Arkitex Director minimizes waste by using soft proofing. In the soft-proof window it highlights changes in page versions or on pages in different editions. Users view colored highlights of the differences or use a toggle key to make changed areas more apparent. A Fast Track feature allows the system to completely generate the plan from incoming page file names. The server can extract information such as publication dates, publication, edition, and zone names, section names, page numbers and color layers. Advanced Fast Track also supports imposition using reference plans that define the imposition scheme.

Users also may include plate furniture on any output they define: soft proof, hardcopy proof, or high-resolution output. Placing special furniture on the soft proof, such as alignment aids, ensures that page files provided by outside customers are correctly positioned before imaging. Arkitex Director includes more flexible imposition, for three- or six-across plates, six- and 12-across tabloid pages, and even three-around plates for new or retrofitted presses with the shorter cut-off. Layouts can be saved for future use.

For groups using IntellituneX centralized toning centers to improve images for many sites, Arkitex Analyst provides more detail about IntellituneX file throughput, such as number of files, incoming and outgoing file size, and processing time. Analyst options allow complete report automation. With Adaptive Contrast Enhancement, the newest version of IntelliTuneX achieves maximum quality even for difficult images, according to Agfa.

While Arkitex Vantage tracks systems to ensure smooth production, it also monitors imaging hardware, helping identify potential quality issues before they become problems, and looks for possible production bottlenecks in order to avoid missed deadlines.
