AOL Agrees to Buy Tacoda

By: E&P Staff AOL has agreed to purchase the online behavioral targeting advertising network Tacoda. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The New York-based company serves relevant ads based on users' behavior. Several newspapers companies, including The New York Times Co. and Tribune, partner with Tacoda.

"AOL is a perfect match for Tacoda," Curt Viebranz, CEO of Tacoda, said in a statement. "By combining our targeting capabilities with AOL's existing set of solutions, we can better serve online advertisers and publishers as the market for behavioral targeting continues to emerge."

AOL is the latest Internet company to make an acquisition related to online advertising. Google agreed to buy DoubleClick, Microsoft purchased aQuantive, and Yahoo acquired Right Media.
