The E.W. Scripps Company is eliminating 431 positions across the company while creating more than 100 new roles, according to a memo from CEO Adam Symson published by The Desk. The changes are part of the broadcaster’s restructuring of its operations and local news delivery.
The Desk reports that affected roles include technical and news production positions, with some union employees receiving buyout offers. Symson said the new jobs include local reporting and community connection roles, and that Scripps aims to fill as many as possible with affected employees.
Symson said most of the significant restructuring needed for the company’s future operating model has now occurred, particularly in local newsrooms. He nevertheless expects further position eliminations during its three-year transformation, though not at the scale seen in 2026.
