Ten Norwegian media organizations have sought a preliminary injunction to stop Meta from implementing new terms they say threaten their control over journalistic content, Agence France-Presse reports. The request asks the Oslo District Court to block the terms while the underlying dispute is considered.
The plaintiffs contend that the terms would permit Meta to collect articles, photographs and videos, including material behind paywalls, for uses such as developing AI products. The organizations include NRK, Schibsted, Amedia, Polaris, Aller and news agency NTB.
Meta told AFP it had postponed implementation until Nov. 20 to allow additional explanation of the changes. The legal action marks an escalation beyond publishers’ earlier objections; the requested injunction has not been reported as granted.
