AP Unveils Syndicated Video Network

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Associated Press has launched a new syndication feature for members of its Online Video Network (OVN), enabling uploaded video to be shared with the rest of the network. Members will also have the ability to include video from other members.

"OVN affiliates will now have more control over the videos they see and share since they get to decide where their videos appear," Bill Burke, director of online video for the AP, said in a statement. "We've designed a tool that makes it easy to create rules which determine where your local video will be displayed, essentially protecting it from unauthorized use."

The new content management system gives administrators complete control over which videos get uploaded and the ability to syndicate video. Members will get a percentage of ad revenue if their video is played on another player in addition to a share of revenue if they add other members' videos to their players.
