By: E&P Staff The Clanton Advertiser's press crew, under Superintendent Jimmy Ruff, won the Alabama Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest's award for best press work for the fourth year in a row.
Saluting his thrice-weekly's pressroom personnel in Saturday's edition, Publisher Michael R. Kelley called them "professionals who take pride in their work," explaining that Ruff and his crew were judged in three divisions by a team from Georgia and won awards in all of them for print quality.
Awards included a first place in the small daily division for the Advertiser and a first place in the large weekly division for The Greenville Advocate, one of several newspapers the plant prints.
"Since we opened our printing plant here four years ago, Jimmy and his crews have won five first place and one second place awards for quality," wrote Kelley. "The newspapers he produced were judged among all but the largest newspapers in Alabama."
