Basque Daily Buys QuadTech Register, Ribbon Systems with MultiCam

Posted Monday, August 20, 2007 12:00 am

By: E&P Staff Diario de Noticias, Pamplona, Spain, ordered a QuadTech Register Guidance System with MultiCam and QuadTech Ribbon Control System with MultiCam, both on the ICON platform, in the hope of reducing waste copies and stabilizing the web on its MAN Roland Uniset 65 press.

"MAN Roland has supported the idea of adding these QuadTech products to our system to increase reliability and cost-effectiveness," General Manager Jon Barriola said in a statement. The low-maintenance MultiCam camera, which requires no bulb replacement and reduced cleaning cycles, he added, stays "locked onto marks during tension upsets such as start-ups and splices. This will save us a significant reduction in start-up times and save on waste copies."

Established in 1994, Diario de Noticias circulates 30,000 copies daily in the Basque country. Publisher Zeroa Multimedia won awards for best local newspaper and best design in a European newspaper in recent years.

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
