Belo Appoints VP/Business Dev.

By: E&P Staff Belo named Edward Olkkola as senior vice president of business development. He will report to Donald "Skip" Cass Jr., executive vice president at Belo and will pursue business development and digital opportunities at both A.H. Belo and Belo after the spin off.

Olkkola was most recently managing director of STARTech Early Ventures. He also served as a general partner and operating partner at Austin Ventures.

"Belo's commitment to creating new business models and deploying associated technologies and products requires proven leadership and experience," Cass said in a statement. "Ed's background in funding and launching start-up ventures, coupled with his experience in corporate development, will prove invaluable."
