'Boston Globe' Slashes Stock Tables

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Boston Globe is the latest paper to de-list its stock tables.

The paper announced today that beginning June 20 it?s cutting its weekday stock and mutual fund listings and replacing it with financial news features. The Globe will continue to publish its stock and mutual fund tables in the Sunday edition.

Globe Editor Martin Baron attributed the change to the fact that many readers get their stock information on the Internet.

The paper is introducing a new one-page feature called Money & Markets to run Tuesday through Saturday. It will cover the ?most significant market events? of the day and will provide tables that show both local and national stocks that were most actively traded and gained or lost the most on a percentage basis.

Boston.com, the Globe?s online arm, will ramp up it stock information including personalized e-mail alerts on stocks and mutual funds.

The paper will continue to operate its Stock Quote line at 617-822-5722.
