By: Bud Sargent has been named managing editor of The Mining Journal after serving in the same position for four years with The Daily Mining Gazette in Houghton.
Both newspapers reported Sargent's appointment Thursday. He replaces David Edwards, who has accepted a job with Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming.
Sargent spent 16 years as a reporter for The Mining Journal before moving to The Daily Mining Gazette in 2004.
"Given Bud's experience of over 16 years with The Mining Journal as a reporter and over four years as managing editor of The Daily Mining Gazette, it was a good fit to bring Bud back as the new managing editor for The Mining Journal," Mining Journal Publisher Jim Reevs said. "Bud knows this community well, which means he can hit the ground running when he takes over in a couple of weeks.
