Cartoon Caption Contest Draws 3,000-Plus Entries

For the Oct. 9-announced contest, entrants were shown a cartoon panel picturing a rocket ship flying towards the mouth of a huge space creature. The winner -- Mark Bailey of Yardley, Pa. -- suggested that the ship's pilot said: "By the way, Jim, here's that $50 I owe you." His caption appeared in Saturday's comic.
