The Netherlands' Telegraaf Media Groep, owner of daily newspapers, magazines, online media and radio, contracted with CCI Europe for a 408-seat data center solution able to serve its Telegraaf Media Nederland titles De Telegraaf, Sp!ts, Noordhollands Dagblad, Haarlems Dagblad, IJmuider Courant, Leidsch Dagblad and De Gooi-en Eemlander.

The data center will be located in Amsterdam and Alkmaar with disaster recovery failover between the two sites.

Cost reduction was behind the project, according to Telegraaf Media Nederland Business Information Manager Ted van Dongen.
"The focus is first on the IT infrastructure, but in longer perspective the possibilities of sharing content may also be explored," he said in a statement. "The CCI development is following a path that matches what we might do in the future: having one content store for many different channels."

Also driving the project was the aim for a standardized platform to be able to respond quickly to increased market demands by allowing deployment of technical resources to develop the business rather than focusing on underlying technology, van Dongen added.

A CCI customer since 1991, Telegraaf Media Nederland has the know-how to implement much of the project, with some help from CCI staff. Product set-up and connections to external systems are under way, with the project planned to finish in September.
