'Compu-toon' Going Seven Days a Week

Posted Tuesday, October 5, 2004 12:00 am

By: Dave Astor The weekly "Compu-toon," which recently parted ways with Tribune Media Services after a decade of print syndication, will become a daily and Sunday online comic starting Nov. 1.

Charles Boyce's panel will appear on uComics.com, a site associated with Universal Press Syndicate that also has non-Universal cartoons. A possible resumption of print syndication for "Compu-toon" is not decided at this point.

While the panel could originally be described as "computer-themed," Boyce said the world and "Compu-toon" have evolved since then. "Everything is computer now," he observed, adding that his comic's humor "leans towards how a human's system works as opposed to a hardware or software configuration."

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
