By: E&P Staff Cox Enterprises has completed its sale of the Longview News-Journal and The Marshall News Messenger. ASP Westward agreed to purchase the Texas-based papers for an undisclosed sum.
Gary Borders and Phil Latham will continue to serve as publishers of the Longview News-Journal and Marshall News Messenger, respectively. The papers expect to keep all of their employees, according to a release.
"We are dedicated to providing readers the same high-quality service and reporting that they have experienced from both of these fine publications," Tom Stamper, vice president of operations and acting CEO of ASP Westward, said in a statement.
Cox publishes The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Palm Beach Post, the Dayton Daily News, the Hamilton Journal News, The Middletown Journal and the Springfield News-Sun. It decided to keep the Austin American-Statesman after putting it up for auction last year.
Cox retained Citigroup and Dirks, Van Essen & Murray to facilitate the sales.
