'Denver Post' To Cut Biz Section

Posted
By: Jennifer Saba The Denver Post is doing away with its weekday business section and folding the news into its metro pages, confirmed Denver Post Editor Gregory Moore.

"We decided not to force the sectioning anymore," Moore said adding the section often had "no heft."

The standalone section would roughly total about six pages including paid and editorial obituaries. The Denver Post had cut its stock agate a few years ago.

Moore said he expects business news to fill about the same space in the metro section "maybe minus a column or two on some days."

Talking Biz News reported the move on Saturday.

The paper will maintain a standalone business section to run in the Sunday edition.

"There are many things we gain from doing this," Moore said. "We are gaining color and better organization."

The same number of reporters will continue to cover business.

The Denver Post is the most recent big metro to announce such a strategy. Last month, The Orange County Register said it was moving its business section to the A section.
