By: E&P Staff The Small Newspaper Group of Kankakee, Ill., will use Digital Technology Internatonal's financial, advertising, editorial, and Web publishing systems at its papers. The SNG, which publishes five newspapers and multiple online sites in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and California, already uses DTI's circulation system.
The project, which according to Springville, Utah-based DTI, has the potential to become a 300-seat site, includes the NewsSpeed and WebSpeed editorial solutions, as well as an integrated customer solution that gives reps a single view of each customer, whether they are handling a circulation or advertising call.
The financial component will allow SNG to manage enterprisewide business activities and information.
"Like many newspaper companies, SNG has operated on different systems for a number of years," DTI Sales and Marketing Vice President Dan Paulus said in a statement. DTI products "will give SNG a suite of solutions to power their newsroom and operations."
Hagadone Corp. selected DTI to install its advertising solutions for its newspaper division. Hagadone will install more than 100 seats of DTI's ClassSpeed, AccountSpeed AdSpeed, AdProof, ClassSpeed Web Order Entry, and PlanSpeed products at more than 14 properties in Idaho, Montana, Washington, Wisconsin, and Hawaii.
As an enterprisewide news division purchase, DTI solutions will allow Hagadone to integrate systems and sell and produce ads for presentation in multiple formats. "The DTI system will help us modernize our operations by allowing us to take advantage of both print and Web solutions," Hagadone Corp. owner Brad Hagadone said in a statement.
Hagadone needed a centralized, cost-effective system to meet current and future needs. It sought to reduce make-good ads, improve customer service, support new product offerings, and improve workflow and accounting functions. "Having a centralized advertising system with integrated solutions in one hosted environment will allow Hagadone to cross-sell advertising and increase revenue immediately," DTI's Paulus added when the installation was announced.
"AdSpeed is essential to standardizing processes across our organization," said Hagadone Information Technology Director Bill Tunison. Based on Adobe's InDesign, AdSpeed is seamlessly integrated with ClassSpeed as part of DTI's unified Advertising system, and standardizes all ad production. AdSpeed accesses the same database as ClassSpeed, facilitating interaction among all advertising departments.
