By: E&P Staff Egemin Automation Inc., based in Holland, Mich., has added a press-loading automated guided vehicle and a print-specific version of its warehouse management and control system to its product offerings.
The new AGV, for newspapers and commercial printers, was designed to replace older systems or integrate with newer ones, according to Egemin.
The company says the reelroom AGV offers improved roll chucking and simplified maintenance. The laser-guided vehicle can be fitted for inertial or wire guidance where necessary, according to Egemin.
Available since the early 1990s, the company's Automatic WMC system includes hardware and software for tracking product "from electronic manifest to copies printed," and it interfaces with SAP and other enterprise resource planning systems.
