Enfocus Donates to RIT

By: E&P Staff Enfocus Software, San Mateo, Calif., granted New York's Rochester Institute of Technology a site license for all of Enfocus' PDF workflow solutions -- PitStop Professional, PitStop Server, and Instant PDF -- and a subscription to www.CertifiedPDF.net, an online resource for PDF specifications. The donations benefit RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, including its School of Print Media (SPM).

SPM Prepress Facilities Coordinator Erich Lehman said the donation affords "thousands of future print and graphic arts professionals" a head start in PDF workflow. Paul and Louise Miller Distinguished Professor Michael Kleper called
PDF "the basis for virtually all of the resource materials that we distribute to students."

Enfocus' PDF Workflow solutions are being used at two main labs at the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, including the campus' Digital Publishing Center (DPC), a student-run printing center serving the entire college. DPC policies mandate that all jobs come in as PDFs. Enfocus solutions allow students to check, auto-correct and fix "bad" PDF files.

PitStop Professional, an Adobe Acrobat plug-in, is for checkiing, automatically correcting, and editing incoming PDF files. PitStop Server is a stand-alone application that streamlines preflighting and auto-correction in high-volume PDF and PDF/X workflows. The Instant PDF Acrobat plug-in is an automated workflow tool for creating and certifying PDF files.
