By: E&P Staff Upgrades to the eZ Publish enterprise content management solution from eZ Systems, Skien, Norway, include PHP 5 compatibility, improved clustering performance, multilingual URL support, and enhanced ISBN and multi-option data types. The latest version, ez Publish 4.0, also features eZ Flow, a new content management extension developed for news and media companies.
Editors can use eZ Flow to create content queues and establish publication schedules that can be fixed or rotating. A preview feature shows portal pages before they go live. A graphical user interface is designed for easy manipulation by non-technical users.
The eZ Flow template system can be used to provide content to mobile devices, including the Apple iPhone, and the video streaming capabilities make it possible to record and stream video from a live feed or from a video archive, which plays using an embedded Flash player.
The extension supports revenue-generation programs such as ad servers, pay-per-view content, paid content placement and subscription management, and includes interactive features designed to engage users, such as surveys, ratings, reviews and blogs.
