French Regional Group Selects Atex Content

Posted
By: E&P Staff French Regional Group Les Journaux du Midi has selected atex content for the production of cross-channel print and online content by its 500 journalists from a single site, transforming the entire editorial workflow from its focus on print -- a move Atex calls "critical to improving efficiency and reducing cost while reaching larger audiences through a diversified product offering."

Headquartered in Montpellier, Les Journaux du Midi comprises three regional newspapers (Midi-Libre, L'Ind?pendant and Centre Presse) publishing 18 editions with a total daily circulation of 230,000. The group also produces a free newspaper in Montpellier, magazines and multiple Web sites. The group also expanded its activity in tourism and will soon enter the local television market.

Important to system selection was the preference for a system that allowed the newsroom to manage the full production process, according to Midi-Libre Executive Editor Jean-Laurent Truc and Group Chief Information Officer Fabrice Boulanger.

With atex content, users can create, manage and enhance content directly for print and Internet channels from one system, raising efficiency and lowering costs. The three dailies will use a common database that will allow shared content and separate workflows. Working in a single Atex editorial client environment, journalists will have the ability to search and select content in the newspaper's archive and photo databases.
