Gannett Joins ABC's Insert Program

By: E&P Staff Gannett's 22 largest newspapers are joining up for the Audit Bureau of Circulations' Insert Verification Service (IVS).

The ABC program measures the accuracy of free standing inserts in large papers by pulling Sunday FSIs and matching them to sample batches. For smaller papers, ABC conducts it audit by looking at paper work and handling procedures.

"Accuracy of delivery is critical to our customers' success," Lisa Giallombardo, vice president of advertising for Gannett's newspaper division, said in a statement.

IVS is a voluntary program for ABC members. So far about 50 newspapers signed up for the service. ABC plans to test the country's top 150 papers by circulation size. The 22 Gannett newspapers, including The Indianapolis Star and The Arizona Republic in Phoenix, are in the top 150. USA Today is not included because it does have a Sunday edition.
