GEI Posts Q4 Sales

Long-standing GEI customer The Atlanta Journal-Constitution added BlackMagic color proofing to GEI solutions that include GUSS multiplexing production workflow, page pairing, ink control, RIPs, copy-dot scanning and NewsProof black and white proofing.

The Austin (Texas) American-Statesman installed page-pairing backup. It also uses BlackMagic, PageCheck soft-proofing, and a TECSA 2470 copy-dot scanner.

The Repository of Canton, Ohio, installed ink presetting software. The first to run GUSS spooling, it also uses BlackMagic color proofing, GEI's NC Translator file management utility, a TECSA 3050 copy-dot scanner and NewsProof, a fast 18 x 24-inch plain-paper, black-and-white proofer.

The Chicago Tribune, which uses GUSS output management, RIPs, and imaging stations for optimizing output through available devices, installed a GEI Internet proofing system with automatic fault-tolerant backup. Another Illinois Guss site, The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill., installed NewsWay ink presetting.

New customers include the Santa Barbara (Calif.) News-Press (NewsWay ink presetting) and the Daytona Beach (Fla.) News-Journal (BlackMagic software).

Overseas, Korea's Seoul Systems bought Image Express Prepress, Windows-based OPI server software, and Japan's Asahi System Information bought PDF RIP Check, a final output simulator for CTP and film environments.
