Goss Post-press for Post Register

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Post Register, Idaho Falls, Idaho, will install a 22-hopper shaftless Goss Magnapak to meet expanded volume and zoning requirements at a packaging operation in a production center to be built next year.

Goss International also will supply its NP200 press gripper, bundle distribution system, and Omnizone supervisory and downstream controls.

The employee-owned, 22,731-circulation (25,711 Sunday) paper has seen double-digit growth in preprint advertising volume over the past five years, and Editor and Publisher Roger Plothow expects it to continue for up to 10 more years. "We're also seeing an increased demand for zoning and targeting, so the capabilities of the Goss Omnizone control software will be essential," he said in a statement.

The Post Register's new system, to be used for daily, Sunday, and quarter-fold semi-commercial inserting, will generate package work orders from the paper's host systems and transfer this zoned production data through the Magnapak system as well as downstream newspaper stackers and ink-jet printers.
