By: A Teamsters official says both sides have agreed to postpone a bankruptcy court hearing that was set for next week in the Star Tribune's request to cancel its contract with unionized drivers.
Bob Moore, business agent for Teamsters Local 638, says the newspaper asked for more information about the drivers' pension. The new hearing date is June 22.
Moore says on Friday that talks continue. The local has threatened to strike if the Star Tribune is allowed to scrap the drivers' contract.
The Star Tribune wants to pull out of a multi-employer pension plan that is says is costing it more than $1 million a year.
Star Tribune spokesman Ben Taylor confirms the postponement, but has no other comment.
The Star Tribune filed for bankruptcy protection in January.
