The Fight will be helmed by longtime climate journalist Jael Holzman

Heatmap News, a media and data company covering climate change and clean energy, announced the launch of Heatmap Plus’ inaugural newsletter, The Fight, an in-depth weekly newsletter taking you inside the complicated conflicts behind individual decarbonization projects — what’s driving them and how they can be resolved. Led by Heatmap Senior Reporter Jael Holzman, a climate journalist with a decade of experience covering these fights at Axios, E&E News and S&P Global, subscribers can expect to receive expert reporting and intelligence on facilities central to the energy transition — solar and wind farms, battery storage sites, carbon pipelines, industrial construction sites and much more.

The Fight will be political intelligence for the energy transition, regularly providing scoops on roadblocks facing key projects in the transition, from local protests to national policy concerns, as well as exclusive interviews with business leaders and activists and updates on high-profile companies and emerging data trends. Its inaugural edition, out Sept. 4, included exclusive reporting about how opposition to the large energy storage project in Acton, California, is spurring action in Congress against batteries.

Heatmap Plus subscribers will also receive special newsletters when there are major news updates and access to exclusive live Q&A events with Holzman and others at Heatmap. Heatmap Plus is part of Heatmap’s new premium subscription tiers, which also include Heatmap Pro, where subscribers can access a data platform that integrates 50+ data sources to forecast local support and opposition facing clean energy projects anywhere in the United States.

“With Heatmap Plus, readers will receive insights and analysis on the major projects and political trends shaping the clean energy development landscape you won’t find anywhere else. We’ll be delivering the same high-quality and well-sourced reporting you’ve come to expect from Heatmap, but with a special focus on the policies, decision-makers, and projects driving the energy transition,” said Heatmap Plus Editor-in-Chief Nico Lauricella. For business, government, non-profit and community leaders in the clean energy space, Heatmap Plus should be your go-to read.”

“Every week, I plan to bring readers the latest information on the energy transition projects defining our time. Through behind-the-scenes reporting, I’m going to walk you through the central players and conflicts driving decarbonization, giving you a close-up look at the new way we are powering America, one project at a time,” said Holzman. “My hope is that The Fight’s nuanced analysis and in-depth interviews will not only help people decipher the obstacles to building solar farms and battery storage sites, but also help resolve them.”

The current Heatmap News team will collaborate with Heatmap Plus journalists while continuing to focus primarily on the site’s existing flagship subscription of award-winning reporting, newsletters, podcasts, and events.
