By: Staff Reports DriveChicago.com Combines Newspapers and Auto Trade Association
Hollinger International, owner of the Chicago Sun-Times, has partnered
with Paddock Publications and the Chicago Automobile Trade Association
(CATA) to form a new Internet company that will offer new and used car
inventory in the Chicago market.
DriveChicago.com, scheduled to launch this fall, will be an automotive
site that connects users with nearly 650 dealers in the Chicago area.
The site will carry news, reviews, consumer information, and personal automotive-oriented Web pages.
Joe Giarratana, general manager of DriveChicago.com, said the site
'will be content driven, offering something new to visitors every day
from the latest in car trends to updated traffic information.'
DriveChicago.com also will feature a search engine that allows users
to find cars by zip code, model, price, or other variables.
The two newspaper companies will use the site to post their classified
automotive ads from Paddock's Daily Herald, made up of 22 localized
editions, and Hollinger's Chicago area newspapers, including the
Sun-Times, Daily Southtown, Pioneer Press's 48 weekly papers, Star
Newspapers, and the Post-Tribune in Gary, Ind.
DriveChicago.com is the second time Sun-Times has partnered with
Paddock in an online classified venture. Classifieds Chicago, launched
earlier this year, includes classified listings from Paddock
Publications, Hollinger's Chicago-area newspapers, and Copley
Newspapers.
DriveChicago.com will be based in Arlington Heights, Ill., along with
Paddock Publications.
