By: E&P Staff The Houston Chronicle's Web site joined the Real Cities Network today, expanding the network's coverage by nearly two million visitors.
Knight Ridder-Owned Real Cities is a nationwide network of more than 100 local news Web sites, and it grew by nearly 30% last year, adding more than a dozen affiliates.
HoustonChronicle.com, owned by Hearst, is the leading local Web site in the nation's 11th largest media market. It receives more than 1.7 millions page views each day and has earned plaudits from the Online Journalism Association, the EPpy Awards, the Digital Edge Awards, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors.
"This is a win for everyone," Stephen Weis, online sales director for HoustonChronicle.com, said in a statement. "We'll have new access to national advertising and partnership opportunities -- and Real Cities boosts its regional coverage in Texas and the Southwest."
