Posted
By: E&P Staff The Hudson-Catskill Newspaper Corp., a division of Johnson Newspaper Corp., has acquired The Ravena News-Herald in Albany, N.Y., and The Greene County Local Courier. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Albany County?s oldest continuous weekly publication, the Ravena News-Herald was founded in 1907 when the Ravena News bought the Coeymans Herald. The Greene County Local Courier was born out of the combined operations of the Coxsackie-Athens Courier and Greenville Local, which came together under owner George McHugh -- who sold the News-Herald and the Local Courier to Hudson-Catskill.

?We look forward to providing publications that continue to serve the informational and marketing needs of readers and advertisers in these important communities,? Hudson-Catskill Newspapers Publisher Roger F. Coleman said in a statement.

Hudson-Catskill Newspapers owns two dailies -- The Daily Mail in Greene County and the Register-Star in Columbia County ? and three weeklies, the Windham Journal in Greene County, The Mountain Eagle in Delaware County and the Chatham Courier in Columbia County.

Melanie Lekocevic has been named editor of both publications.
