By: E&P Staff Journal Communications Inc. has bought the 2,300-circulation weekly Clintonville (Wisc.) Tribune-Gazette from GateHouse Media Inc., the publisher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel announced Thursday.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger-and-acquisition firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented GateHouse Media in the transaction.
Journal Communication Chairman and CEO Steven J. Smith said the acquisition extends the company's reach in north central Wisconsin. The company owns a printing facility in nearby Waupaca, he noted.
"We will continue to seek to expand our community newspaper footprint in our Wisconsin and Florida markets, as we believe we can benefit from our strong sales and management teams and our clear understanding of our audiences in these clusters," Smith said in a statement.
The company's Journal Community Publishing Group operates 75 papers and shoppers in eight states.
