'Jumble' Artist Stepping Down, But Puzzle Feature Will Continue

Posted
By: E&P Staff Henri Arnold is stepping down after nearly a half century as illustrator of the "Jumble" puzzle, the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune reported today.

The Sarasota resident began illustrating "Jumble" in 1960 -- six years after the Tribune Media Services (TMS) feature was created by Martin Dell.

Billy Cox's Herald-Tribune story said a new illustrator will take over in March to collaborate with former TMS executive Michael Argirion, who has worked on "Jumble" since 1993.

Cox did report that Arnold will continue to draw the 58-year-old "Meet Mr. Luckey" panel for the New York Daily News.

The news about Arnold was mentioned today on Tom Spurgeon's Comics Reporter blog .
