By: E&P Staff Newspaper printers in four states recently bought thermal computer-to-plate solutions from Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y.
Morris Communications' Athens Newspapers LLC, Athens, Ga., which prints the Athens Banner-Herald, several weeklies, the University of Georgia' student daily, and many commercial projects, purchased two Kodak Trendsetter News 70 thermal platesetters, Kodak thermal digital plates, a Kodak Prinergy Evo workflow system, Kodak Preps imposition software and Kodak Staccato screening.
Gary Cleveland, production director in Athens, credited Kodak with helping make the solution work in the limited space available for CTP.
Courier Publishing Co., Grants Pass, Ore., is adding two Trendsetter News 70 platesetters. In addition to the Daily Courier, the PAGE Co-op member prints a total market coverage weekly, and commercial jobs.
Gannett River States Publishing, Monroe, La., which prints The News-Star, bought two Trendsetter News 70s and ThermalNews digital plates. The News-Star joins 30 other Gannett locations outputting plates with Kodak thermal systems.
Findlay (Ohio) Publishing Co. uses two Trendsetter News 70s, ThermalNews plates, Kodak NewsManager and Prinergy Evo workflow systems, and Staccato screening. Another PAGE Co-op member, the company prints The Courier, a morning paper serving Findlay, and the Review Times, an afternoon daily serving Fostoria, Ohio, as well as commercial work.
