By: E&P Staff Landmark Communications, publisher of The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va., announced Thursday it had acquired Digital Envoy Inc., the developer of online marketing tools and identity theft prevention solutions.
Envoy is the parent of Digital Element, which produces tools allowing online businesses to "non-invasively" uncover information about online users such as their real-time location, connection speed, and host domain.
"The acquisition continues Landmark's strategy of acquiring leading providers of Internet services and online marketing solutions with excellent growth opportunities," Landmark said.
Bill Calpin, president and CEO of Digital Envoy, will remain at the head of the eight-year-old company, Landmark said. Co-founders Dennis Maicon and Rob Friedman are also staying on.
