By: E&P Staff Dan Wright, who formerly co-created the "Wildwood" comic for King Features Syndicate, is now co-creating an environmental strip called "Rustle the Leaf" with Dave Ponce.

More than 200 Web sites -- including media and environmental ones -- link to the weekly comic.

The strip's title character is a "sagacious" reformer. Other cast members include Rustle's wise-cracking friend Rooty the Acorn Sprout, the persecuted Dandy the Dandelion Seed, and "know-it-all" Paige Precipitation.

Wright is artist/co-writer of "Rustle" and Ponce is creator/co-writer. Ponce has been a high school teacher and ad copywriter, and now works as a consultant in the natural-products industry. He and Wright are both Indiana residents.

What can a self-driving car teach news publishers about AI? Quite a lot, according to Guy Tasaka. How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
