By: (AP) Richard Luna, managing editor of
The Indianapolis Star, has left the newspaper after less than a year in the position, the newspaper said Monday.
Luna's last day in the newsroom's No. 2 job was Friday.
Dennis Ryerson, the
Star's editor and vice president, said Luna left to pursue other opportunities within Gannett Co. Inc., which owns the
Star, and elsewhere.
Ryerson said the paper would soon begin a nationwide search for a replacement.
The
Star is the state's largest newspaper, with a daily circulation of 254,000 and 368,000 on Sundays.
Luna came to the
Star last year from the
Statesman Journal of Salem, Ore., where he was managing editor. The
Statesman Journal also is owned by Gannett.
