McClatchy Appoints New Board Members

By: E&P Staff The McClatchy Co. named two new board members to replace the outgoing James McClatchy, 83, and William Ellery McClatchy, 79. William McClatchy, 42, and Brown McClatchy Maloney, 48, are the newest additions.

"We are delighted to have Will and Brown join the board," said Garry Pruitt, chairman of the board and CEO, in a statement. "They are both members of the fifth generation of McClatchy family owners and each brings a deep understanding of the company, its traditions and the role our newspaper and Web sites play in the communities we serve."

William McClatchy is an entrepreneur and journalist living in San Francisco and is the son of James McClatchy. He is founder and current editor of ETFzone.com, a Web site supplying content about exchange-traded index funds. He has also worked for The Fresno Bee and Information WEEK and PC WEEK magazines.

Brown McClatchy Maloney is owner of Olympic View Publishing and Radio Pacific in Washington. He is the cousin of James and William Ellery McClatchy.
