By: E&P Staff Mediaspectrum Inc., Burlington, Mass., has released ContentWatch 2.0, its Web-based editorial content-management solution.
Designed to accommodate "massive consolidation while greatly expanding a publisher's ability to create, manage and publish both print and digital content to multiple channels," ContentWatch 2.0 features semantic search capability for users to explore content in multiple repositories, including production, archive and third-party files (such as those found with imaging partners). IBM Websphere integration provides the support of a secure and flexible environment to run ContentWatch 2.0's mission-critical solutions.
Other major enhancements include: Kindle DX support, enabling publishers to realize new revenue through direct sales to Amazon's Kindle DX reader; improved content libraries, permitting various groups to define multiple libraries while fully distinguishing the user, content and workflow; XML-based scripting for more flexibility and automation by allowing customers to define their own workflow; and enhanced ad management, allowing users with appropriate permissions to move ads between pages outside of InDesign.
Mediaspectrum CEO Scott Killoh credited ContentWatch customers, whose "insight and feedback we have directly leveraged into this next-generation consolidation engine for content management."
"We expect the new features in ContentWatch 2.0 will allow our business to create, manage and publish news even more seamlessly - driving better efficiencies and cost savings throughout The Day," IT Operations Manager Chris Cleaveland, said in a statement. ," The New London, Conn., paper implemented ContentWatch two years ago in what Cleaveland called a "speedy deployment" that enabled rapid adaptation "at a time when the nature of the publishing business is changing beneath our feet."
Part of Mediaspectrum's Media 2.0 Platform, ContentWatch is designed to support the entire content lifecycle, from creation to management to deployment. The solution bundles editorial and Web content production features with wire, archive and page-layout solutions.
