Metro US EIC Mark Moore Out

By: E&P Staff Metro US, which is part of the international chain of free daily Metro newspapers, let go of editor-in-chief Mark Moore Monday, according to a memo from Metro New York's managing director and publisher Daniel Magnus.

The memo stated that the newspaper had already begun its search for a new editor, and that it expected to fill the job shortly. Managing editors Maggie Samways and Michael Freidson have been assigned Moore's duties until a replacement is selected.

Moore, who had been the editor of Metro US since May 2005, was the third editor-in-chief since the launch of the New York edition in March 2004. He had previously been editor of the Metro newspaper in Philadelphia.
