Mitsubishi Distributes ECRM's Polyester Platesetters

By: E&P Staff ECRM Inc., Tewksbury, Mass., and Mitsubishi Imaging Inc. announced that Mitsubishi Imaging will remain master distributor for the DPX line of polyester platesetters. Mitsubishi Imaging has been the North American distributor of the DPX product line for more than eight years.

In April, ECRM agreed to acquire the Esko Production Polyester CTP product line and has taken over sale of the products, patents, parts and service obligations -- including manufacture and sale of DPX 4, DPX System, DPX Lite, WorkMates, and all associated software, consumables, spare parts, and related products.

ECRM estimates that over 70% of the more than 6,000 polyester CTP platesetters in the field today are DPX machines. Citing State Street Consultants' figures, it says polyester CTP system sales represented 36% of the North American market last year.

ECRM's new Polyester CTP Division offers four solutions: DPX 4 CTP internal-vacuum drum system for fast, accurate punched and processed plates, using fiber optics and high-speed spinner to output at resolutions between 1200 and 3000 dpi (38 23.8-by-29.3-inch plates per hour at 1200 dpi); DPX System internal vacuum drum system with built-in 220mm and 425mm open punch for precisely registered plates for four-color production in sizes from 250mm x 250mm to 550mm x 460mm and resolutions from 900 to 3600 dpi; two-up DPX Lite automatic system to image, process, punch, dry and cut-to-size 13.3-by-21.6-inch plates at resolutions of 900 to 3600 dpi; WorkMates suite of software modules, including RIP, automated PDF creation, trapping, color management, screening, proofing, in-RIP CIP3 generation, imposition, and Windows driver-based proofing.
