By: E&P Staff John B. Morse, The Washington Post Co.'s vice president/finance, CFO, and principal accounting officer, announced Friday he is retiring at the end of the year.
Morse, 61, has been the chief finance and accounting executive at the Post Co. since 1989.
The Post Co. said a successor will be named soon.
"Nineteen years is an extraordinary tenure for a CFO, but in Jay's case I wish it were longer," Post Co. Chairman and CEO Donald E. Graham said in a statement. "I've often said that Jay was old fashioned in his regard for standards before it became fashionable to be so."
During Morse's tenure, Post Co. revenues grew to $4.2 billion from $1.4 billion.
Prior to joining The Washington Post Company, Morse was a partner at Price Waterhouse, now PricewaterhouseCoopers.
