October 27, 2011 (TORONTO) – The National Post today announced it is giving itself a 13th birthday present by changing its tagline from “A Better Read” to “Right to the Point”. This new tagline speaks to the Post’s crisp style of writing, analysis and commentary, as well as to its small ‘’c’’ conservative positioning in the market. The campaign to introduce the new brand launches in print and digitally with ads featuring some of the National Post’s most recognizable writers and personalities, including Christie Blatchford, Conrad Black, Terence Corcoran and Rex Murphy. Along with the print and digital campaign, ads will run on television and radio on CHCH, CFRB, AM640 and Q107.
“The new tagline captures many of the reasons so many people read and enjoy the National Post newspaper, website and mobile products,” said Douglas Kelly, Publisher, National Post. “In today’s crowded marketplace, readers are looking for strong points of view backed by a firm understanding of the issues and written in an engaging manner.”
The National Post also has another reason to celebrate; it recently won two golds and a silver at the third annual Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPA), which awards the best in digital media. The National Post won gold for Best Use of Social Media for a newspaper or broadcaster. The award celebrates the paper’s social media efforts on Facebook, Twitter and various other networks. It also won gold in the Best Website Design category. Judges awarded nationalpost.com silver for Best Overall Companion.
"The wins are fantastic and a reflection of a lot of great, hard work by our team at the National Post,"
said Duncan Clark, Vice President, Digital Media, National Post. "It's a thrill to be recognized in this
way."
