By: E&P Staff This week, Nela Br?der Neumeister GmbH, Lahr, Germany, and River Falls, Wis., has acquired major parts of 2B Prazisionstechnik GmbH, Forstern, Germany, near Munich.

Mainly active in the newspaper industry, with a primary focus in central and southern Europe and some Asian countries, 2B in recent months suffered severely under the recession. On July 1 it filed for insolvency. Creditors meeting last week voted for the Nela acquisition. It will be integrated into Nela's German facility.

The acquisition ensures continuing service for all 2B customers, according to Nela General Manager Frank Neumeister.

The purchase is the most recent in a line of acquisitions that includes Nela's 2000 purchase of Ternes, 2004 purchase of Western Lithotech punchbending assets, 2007 purchase of Stoesser and 2008 purchase of M+A. In January, Nela group also bought OMCS GmbH, a vision inspection company for rubber, ceramic and polymer parts.
