New Abu Dhabi Daily Selects Saxotech

By: E&P Staff Abu Dhabi Media Co. has plans to launch an English-language daily by spring, and will use an editorial system for the print and online publishing from Saxotech.

The vendor is now installing the 175-seat publishing system at the new daily, which state-owned Abu Dhabi Media has not yet named. Another 50 seats will be added later this year.

The national daily, the first for this capital of the United Arab Emirates, will use Saxotech's Mediaware Center user interface to plan, create, design and edit content and to manage it for the print and online editions. Regional editions will be created for each of the seven emirates. Wire feeds will go into Mediaware Center through a single repository, and all archived data are also accessed through the common interface, explains Paul Harris, Tampa-based Saxotech's marketing vice president. Print edition content will be composed with the Adobe InCopy/InDesign suite, which is integrated into Saxotech's system, Harris adds.

The paper's online presentation will be hosted by Saxotech, and the online team will use Web business analytics for "real-time interactive reporting," according to the company.
