New Comic is Set in a Department Store

By: E&P Staff A comic strip about the retail business is being launched this Sunday by King Features Syndicate.

"Retail" is by Norm Feuti, who has worked in the business for more than 15 years -- rising from salesperson to store manager.

His humor strip focuses on life at the fictitious Grumbel's department store, including the interaction between employees and shoppers. Among the characters are Stuart, the store manager and corporate yes man; Val, the well-educated, overqualified assistant sales associate; Cooper, the resident clown and sales clerk; and Marla, the unappreciated middle manager.

Readers can submit their personal retail experiences for possible use in the comic by dialing 1-866-749-0824, a toll-free number that's scheduled to be activated this Monday.
