'New York Press' Appoints New Editor

By: E&P Staff David Blum has been named editor chief of the New York Press and editorial director of its parent company Manhattan Media's Community Newspaper Group.

Blum has been editor in chief of The Village Voice from September 2006 through March 2007. He started his career as a reporter at The Wall Street Journal before moving onto editing positions at New York Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, and Esquire.

In addition, Blum has been a television critic and critic-at-large for the New York Sun since 2002 and has authored two books, "Flash in the Pan: The Life and Death of An American Restaurant" and "Tick ...Tick ...Tick ...: The Long Life and Turbulent Times of 60 Minutes."

Tom Allon, president and CEO of Manhattan Media, said in a statement, "David has written and edited for some of the most widely read and influential publications in America and is also someone who understands and appreciates the important role of an independent, edgy, neighborhood-oriented publication for the downtown New York Community in lower Manhattan."
