NYTimes.com Promotes Two Executives

By: E&P Staff NYTimes.com has promoted two executives to new positions. Nicholas Ascheim has been appointed vice president/editorial products and Eliot Pierce has been named vice president of operations and strategy. Ascheim will oversee product development for all editorial sections of the site and Pierce will be responsible for the business development.

"Nick is one of our creative leaders, with a unique understanding of the user experience," Vivian Schiller, senior vice president and GM of NYTimes.com, said in a statement. "He grew our entertainment and video products into two of the most dominant destinations on our site. Eliot has a wonderful analytical mind and a deep understanding of both the product and business fundamentals of the Internet."

Ascheim was director of entertainment, video, and audio products since 2006. Before joining the Times in 2004, he was CEO of TheSquare and was one of three founders of Fox News Online.

Pierce served as director of product management and development since 2006. He also oversaw the launch of MyTimes and TimesSelect. Before joining the Times in 2002, he worked for The FeedRoom, CNET, and Snap!/NBCi.
