ORLANDO SENTINEL GETS NEW EDITOR

By: Staff Reports Franklin To Leave Indianapolis Star

Timothy A. Franklin, 40, editor of The Indianapolis Star,
is leaving to become editor of The Orlando (Fla.)
Sentinel, according to reports in both papers. Franklin
will leave the Star on Dec. 1.

Franklin joined the Star only 11 months ago from the
Chicago Tribune. He said his decision to leave was not
influenced by Gannett Co. Inc.'s recent purchase of the
Star. "This is about an opportunity," he told the
Star. "It's not about running away from something."

Star Managing Editor Calvin Stovall will oversee the 300-

person news operation while a replacement is sought.

In Florida, Franklin replaces John Haile, who was editor of the
Sentinel for 15 years before retiring earlier this year.
