'Palm Beach Post' Gets New Publisher

By: Palm Beach Post publisher Doug Franklin will leave to take a top position in a restructuring at the paper's parent company, Cox Enterprises Inc. The company said Wednesday that Alex Taylor, the publisher of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel in Colorado, also a Cox paper, will take over as publisher on Jan. 1.

Franklin, 51, is a 30-year veteran of the Atlanta-based company. Since becoming publisher in April he has overseen significant staff reductions and consolidation. In his new role Franklin will lead Cox Newspapers, 1 of 3 divisions in a new umbrella unit called Cox Media Group.

Taylor, 34, the new publisher, has also worked at the Austin American-Statesman and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
