By: Editorial Staff Washingtonpost.com, The Washington Post's online service, is a finalist in a record seven categories in the 1999 EPpy Awards Competition.
EPpy winners will be announced at the Interactive Newspaper Conference in Atlanta on Feb. 19.
The EPpy Awards honor the best work by the newspaper industry in the online/Internet field. Editor & Publisher Interactive, the new media division of Editor & Publisher Co., sponsors the awards.

"The improvements in the quality of the entries each year is a testament to the newspaper industry's focus on the Internet," he continued.
The 1999 EPpy Awards will be presented at a dinner event at the Hyatt Regency, Atlanta, on the last night of the conference.
Nearly 400 entries were submitted for this year's EPpy Awards.
Thirty judges have been evaluating the online services since mid-November. The conference runs Feb. 17-20.
