By: E&P Staff Reuters is hosting an April 5 panel debate to discuss "Iraq -- Is the Media Telling the Real Story?"
Questions asked will include: "How accurately does the media tell the Iraq story?"; "Can the media reflect reality, given the dangers and constraints?"; "Is the agenda dominated by bad news?"; and "Do the Arab and Western media tell different stories?"
Moderating the discussion will be Paul Holmes, Reuters editor for general and political news. Panelists include Lt. Col. Steven Boylan, chief for strategic communication at the U.S. Army's Combined Arms Center; Roger Cohen, columnist for the International Herald Tribune and international writer-at-large for The New York Times; James Taranto, editor of The Wall Street Journal's OpinionJournal.com; Lara Logan, chief foreign correspondent for CBS; Alastair Macdonald, Iraq bureau chief for Reuters; Ghaith Abdul-Ahad, a photojournalist for The Guardian; and Dr. Nabil Al Khatib, executive editor at Al Arabiya.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Reuters office, 3 Times Square, New York City.
